Prior Express Written Consent (PEWC)
Definition
A signed, written agreement from a consumer permitting a specific company to contact them using an automated dialing system or a prerecorded message. The disclosure must name the company, state that consent is not a condition of purchase, and be recorded with a timestamp. PEWC is the standard that matters for texting and automated calling — general 'opt-in' language on a lead form usually does not meet it.
